The GE RAK190V 2-Way Energy Management Thermostat is a commercial HVAC control designed to improve guest comfort, equipment performance, and room-level energy management in hotels, resorts, extended-stay properties, senior living communities, multifamily developments, and other facilities using compatible GE Zoneline® systems. Unlike a conventional thermostat that simply sends heating and cooling commands, the RAK190V can provide two-way communication with compatible variable-speed Zoneline equipment, allowing temperature and humidity information to be exchanged with the HVAC unit for more precise operation.

A built-in infrared occupancy sensor allows the thermostat to determine when a room is occupied and implement programmable energy-saving setbacks when it is vacant. For hospitality properties with hundreds of guestrooms, reducing unnecessary heating or cooling in unoccupied rooms can contribute to meaningful property-wide energy savings without requiring guests or staff to manually adjust each thermostat. GE also identifies programmable occupancy schedules and occupancy-based setbacks as standard RAK190V capabilities.

The RAK190V is particularly well suited to GE's variable-speed inverter HVAC platforms. In two-way mode, the thermostat can communicate temperature and humidity information directly to compatible equipment, helping the HVAC system modulate operation rather than relying solely on traditional on/off thermostat signals. GE describes two-way communication as its preferred configuration for compatible variable-speed compressor models.

An enhanced humidity sensor provides another input for compatible HVAC operation, while the thermostat can also manage make-up air based on room occupancy when paired with compatible two-way make-up-air models. This allows ventilation to be reduced when guestrooms are vacant rather than operating continuously regardless of occupancy.

The thermostat features a clean capacitive touch interface with automatic dimming, helping create a modern guestroom appearance while keeping operation straightforward. In compatible configurations, users can set the operating mode and temperature from the thermostat, directly at the HVAC unit, or through SmartHQ™ online management tools.

For hotel operators and facilities teams, SmartHQ™ compatibility extends control beyond the individual guestroom. When incorporated into an appropriate SmartHQ deployment, connected Zoneline equipment can support site-wide fleet management, setting adjustments, unit status information, and other remote management capabilities.
